We have all heard it a thousand time : poinsettias are extremely dangerous to cats , dogs , and children too !
But is it really honest ?
Tis the season when poinsettias deck the Asaph Hall with their brilliant colors . As well as showing up around fireplaces , kitchen mesa , and every potential place a little outburst of vacation cheerfulness is needed .
But , along with their smasher , there always seems to follow an ominous admonition that they can be baneful . To both pets , and human beings .
So is it really rightful ?
Are Poinsettias Really Dangerous To Cats, Dogs & Babies?
As it turns out , the danger of the poinsettia plant , just like manygardening myths , seem to be deliver more in fable than fact . And although their foliage can make a few government issue when take in , they are far from mortal .
The Christmas star plant does grow a white sap that contains a few chemical chemical compound . But as a toxin , they are much more on the soft side than anything deadly or dangerous .
Quite simply put , the theory of a pet have anything more than an disordered stomach , or the unpleasant results that make out along with it , are highly unlikely .
Should you let your pets eat the leaves at will ? Of course not , but rest assured they will not lead to anything deadly .

Over a century ago , as the caption goes , a young child was find numb next to a poinsettia plant . And , of course of instruction , everyone in the town signal the digit at the “ vicious ” painted leaf as the culprit .
As it turns out , it just simply was n’t the case . But as legend often do , the curse of the Euphorbia pulcherrima industrial plant grew and develop .
In the age that have passed , a quite a little of enquiry has been done on the plant and its supposed toxicity . And what that enquiry has found is that it is intimately impossible to run through enough leaves to be deadly .
One study even conclude that by consuming even 600 leaf , there was still not enough toxins present to ever be deadly !
