Not long ago I see some very cool , innovative concrete planters that I add to my DIY To Do List . Not long afterwards the lovely folks over atTimber Presssent me a copy ofConcrete Garden Projects : Easy & Inexpensive Containers , Furniture , Water Features & Moreto followup so when I had a crafty friend bar by for a visit + a cheery good afternoon , I necessitate no more hints to dig into some projection .

The projects in the book are peachy start points for concrete projects that will fit many unlike garden dash . In add-on to modern planter we made some foliage photographic print stepping stones : some in mould with pressed leaves and one where we used a jumbo hydrangea leaf as the stamp .

The authors , Malin Nilsson and Camilla Arvidsson , layed out each project in six simple stair which were easy to come after ,   especially   easy given   each   step has a beautiful photograph . The best part was the relaxation and pep pill at which you’re able to produce concrete projects ; we had seven planters and seven stepping stone heal within an hour of make it home with the materials .

For the   planters , we used a miscellanea of different sized plastic tubs that we collected . I fill my three square tubs with concrete and used round tubs and cup for the holes . I then fulfil the some of the larger hole - spacers with concrete and a small cup so each would grow yet another planter .

I particularly eff how this one straight planter   turned   out when plant with sedum .

The stepping stones were also formed in plastic tubs , but expectant , shallower ones . We squeeze   interesting   leave-taking found around the garden ( lady ’s mantle , Nipponese maple , and hosta ) and weighted them with small endocarp . When un - mold , they have Depression that will hopefully fill up with little pool of water or perhaps moss .

Modern Concrete Planters

Near the end , we took the left over concrete and piled it in a mound on top of a giant hosta leaf . When nestled into the shade garden it is correct at home plate with the hosta who donated a leafage for the mould .

It was so amazingly wanton to make stepping stones that I ’m felicitous to say that my days of trace for stone in river and back alley might just be over ( insert grinning husband here ) . I would certainly commend the book of account to anyone looking for a fun and originative way to pass a sunny afternoon in the garden .
