Oyster Mushroom Hunting
Hunting for mushrooms is always one of my favored pastimes . To start with , the areas that most mushroom prefer to advert out in are ordinarily gorgeous .
They are often near water , in exuberant unripe rainforest , which we have great deal of here in Oregon .
Many times when I actually line up savage mushrooms I ’m not even actively look for them . This has most often been the suit when I ’ve come across oyster mushrooms in particular .

I ’ll be cross a creek on a logarithm and await down to see there are mushrooms on the log , or I ’ll come across a pulpit that has a few clustering of oysters .
Foraging for oyster mushrooms is broadly pretty easy , as they are not hard to identify , and exciting to find !
Oyster Mushroom Identification
huitre mushroom are one of the well-situated mushrooms to identify ( they are included in my5 easy to identify edible mushrooms pathfinder ) .
One important affair to observe about oyster mushroom is that they always grow on Sir Henry Joseph Wood , either on dead log or living trees , usually hardwoods but occasionally conifer .
They also always have livid or light coloured gills that run down their stem .

They most often turn in shelf like clusters .
Different variety show can be various colors of livid , beige , yellow , and brown .
There really are n’t any poisonous flavor alikes if you follow the above description , most importantly that theyalwaysgrow on logs or trees .

We found these single in June near the Umpqua river in Oregon .

We were unprepared when we found these and did n’t have much to conduct them back with , so we used a lid .
We were n’t expecting to find any edible mushroom , but we got lucky !
Cooking Oyster Mushrooms
huitre mushrooms are delicious and ranked as some of the tastiest comestible raging mushrooms , along withmorels , chantrelles , andlobster mushroom .
They are amazing simply saute in butter with a little freshthyme .
Growing Oyster Mushrooms
huitre mushrooms are one variety ( along with shiitake ) that can really be cultivated at home bygrowing them on logsusingplug spawn .
you’re able to also get nifty littlemushroom spring up kitsthat make growing them extremely easy !
We have grow mushrooms on logs before when we lived in Arkansas with wonderful results ! Here are some of the oysters and shiitakes that we grow .
