What a find for this week ’s show ! Last October , we taped Lana and Robert Beyer ’s garden , a huge departure from the one they had in Houston . Robert is a passionate collector and ready to try anything once . Lana attempts to keep it under mastery with an eye to plan . The result is absolutely fabulous . Also , check outRobert ’s web site and web log , unfeignedly essential plant references from a hands - on guy wire who learned Central Texas horticulture from abrasion .
His latest passion is variegate plants , including vine , groundcovers , perennials , bush , American aloe , yucca , and citrus . To pass along his exuberance , he joinsTomfor a more in - depth look at afew of these plant life .
In my garden , the Dutch irises are blooming . Purples ( though they look blue ) under the Chinese pistache .

More in the terrace seam beyond the Marie Pavie stand up .
With some yellowness .
In front , I do n’t even remember planting this one . But they front nice there , so design to sum up more next decline .

If you ’re new to bulbs , Dutch irises guarantee a return execution for many years , and wo n’t break the depository financial institution . I purchase a few more every October and plant on Thanksgiving weekend .
This is rose week , too . Here ’s Mutabilis on Amelia ’s fence , in its apricot Easter outfit .
And in garden pink , since Mutabilis is a multi - tasker , with flush turning ruby in the last . That ’s a coral honeysuckle on the fencing beyond .

Next to it , Isabella Sprunt in yellow
In the lair bed , here ’s climber Buff Beauty on a trellis next to the window .
Two calendar month ago , I cut it almost to the solid ground to further riotous growth from the bottom , and fertilized with store - bought organic slow release and Harvey poop .

Here ’s the fragrant white Lady Banks with primrose jasmine in the fail back corner , an area next on the project listing . No water supply hose ever gets to it .
My plan for a real upgrade on the Caterpillar cove wrick into my usual budget “ methadone - upper . ” To fix the sink flagstones , I pushed them up with a spadeful and gourmandize pea gravel under them . I ’ll carry on with the rest of them later . I did n’t desire to smash the plants in bloom .
For year , I ’ve clear it with decomposed granite , where calylophys , winecup , oregano , and catnip screw thread the route . Since one lavender did so well , I ’ve build up up a mound on the other side and planted a little ‘ Provence . ’ And , now that it ’s in full sunshine , I decided to establish up a few more area with pea plant gravel and granite for blackfoot daisy . I ’m thinking about adding pelting lily , too . On the left wing are barbados cherry , just out of pile , a bay Stan Laurel I plan to “ hint ” this weekend to bollocks out , and in the very front to the left is the spiraea . On either side of the arbor are spuria iris , day lily and hymenocallis .

Also since sun has returned , I moved the entrance Mexican heathers , hail up from last twelvemonth , and imbed pink skullcaps once again . For a long clock time , they made a fluffy low evergreen plant hedge , recognise with pink bloom later spring through fall , until it got too fly-by-night .
On Sunday , we took down the patio covert and did a vigorous scrub - down . Then I reorganise the containers , rationalise , fertilized , and exceed them with newfangled potting soil and mulch . Against the terrace , one Turk roof is already blooming . That is a first to note in my garden diary .
Until next calendar week , Harvey bid you a Happy Easter ! Linda
