Garden fireworks!

To celebrate red , lily-white and blue this week , my new blue gazing ball glow against firecracker ruddy Turk ’s cap !

White nativePlumbago scandensdroops over soft leaf yucca ( Yucca recurvifolia ) .

Non - aboriginal depressed plumbago ( Plumbago auriculata ) spark some attention from this Snowberry Clearwing moth , too rapid for slow me to nab a super shot . From a space , it resemble a hummingbird . Some people refer to it as the “ bumblebee moth . ”

The sparks really vanish from this aboriginal hibiscus ( Hibiscus martianus ) . Since it ’s in all probability not moth-eaten hardy , we revel its flare from a terrace container .

Okay , purple passion vine / passionflower is n’t exactly blue , but it for sure is go under off firework for the frenzied butterflies mating and lay nut on its leaves .

Mine is a hybrid with five - lobed leaves , not the nativePassiflora incarnatawith three - lobed farewell , but it ’s definitely related .   It does scatter like mad , and I need to draw it off some tree it ’s shade . Still , I detest to pull one that has a happy caterpillar champ off . I see close for tiny egg , too .

Uruguayan Firecracker Plant is orange , but it ’s name say it all .   It ’s also called hummingbird bush ( since it attracts them ) and a caboodle of other names .   I do it it asDicliptera suberecta , since it ’s fun to say !

Also shout out hummingbird bush is native Flame acanthus ( Anisacanthus quadrifidusvar.wrightii ) , a recurrent shrub that attracts butterflies , too .

A glossy lily-white with stacks of dissimilar names is Datura ( Datura wrightii ) . ordinarily called Jimsonweed or Angel ’s trump ( not to be fox with Brugmansia , a related to genus ) , Daphne cause it herPlant Pick this week .
