Happy Friday GPODers !
We ’ve got another submission from champion - of - the - blog , Carla Zambelli Mudry . However , we ’re not bring an update fromher garden in Malvern , Pennsylvaniathis time . Instead , Carla is partake her late trip to Chanticleer Garden .
I do n’t just love to garden , I love to visit gardens .

Yesterday I visited a favorite spot fairly local to me , Chanticleer Gardenin Wayne . It ’s a wonderful arras of garden within a garden and well deserving a visit . It ’s located in suburban Philadelphia .
Chanticleer was an the three estates . The Chanticleer estate dates from the early 20th - century , when country along the Main Line of the Pennsylvania Railroad was developed for summertime home to get away the heat of Philadelphia . Adolph Rosengarten Sr . and his wife Christine take the Wayne - St. Davids area to build their nation retreat .
In 1924 it became more than a summer home , it became a lasting year - unit of ammunition domicile and finally the children of the Rosengarten‘s had home of their own on the property .

In 1990 , Adolf Rosengarten Jr. left the place in his estateto be turned into pleasure gardens . The afterwards formed Chanticleer Foundation manage it all . It ’s an interesting blank space and they bid classes at different time of the year on juncture , which are very expensive but worth it . The garden are always worth seeing at any time they are open . you could have a rank or you could pay to go as you bid .
I forget on the dot how many people and horticulturalists are hire , but this is an astonishing position and well worth a visit . One of my favorite things are the aspen Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree , because they make the coolest noise in the picnic .
They have some magnificent old growth tree , and very interesting garden and grand furniture dissipate throughout — a mint of which was made on site from rescued wood . There are water features and the primary artistic creation is the plant life themselves .

One of the things I find most inspirational is how they work all sort of things into planters and pots and flowerbeds .
Chanticleer knows that nothing pairs with a terrace well than an array of tropic plants . Even from a distance , the entrance to the estate look lush and enviting with tropic leaf glow in the sunlight .
And a tight bunch of containers give the illusion of a duncish wood of plantings , while providing privacy and secern a outer space . Part of what makes Chanticleer so especial is its note as a “ pleasure ” garden , and the horticulturists here take that name badly . away from just being a place to see pretty plants , Chanticleer is an immersive experience .

This means peck of weewee features that introduce soothing sounds to the gardens , and very dense plantings that have scads of detail to take in and admire .
Of course , deliver plenty of places to sit is also essential for an immersive experience . But simple chairs and benches would not do for this space , you ’ll often retrieve seating options adorn with works design that give that make you sense like their another aliveness , mature part of the ground .
The gardens also ask for you to look at plants in all variety of different , interesting ways . Rather than traditional cutting flower arrangements , bombastic sports stadium of water are used to make float blossom artworks . This spread let you to see flowers and foliage from a very different advantage point .

If you ’re looking for container garden breathing in , Chanticleer is a golden mine . From the tropical plantings we saw at the beginning of this tour to these foliage options that have all variety incredible textures . As someone who is always delineate to things that look a little other - worldly , the outstretched stems of the foul-smelling cestode plant ( Muehlenbeckia platyclada , Zones 9–12 and commonly grown as a houseplant ) slip the show for me .
A huge ‘ Yellow Ribbons ’ agave americana ( Agaveamericana‘Yellow Ribbons ’ , Zones 8–11 ) also wow as a focal pointedness plant life . And to add to its moderately alien look , the big metallic element pedestal sustain its sess makes it look like a UFO that has crash - put down in the garden .
Another fabulous floating flower pot , this sentence with some more subtle color . The white variegation of Charles Percy Snow - on - the - good deal ( Euphorbiamarginata , annual ) makes for a beautiful line to the tonic of pinko in the hydrangea rosiness .

Another seating area where the chairs are as interesting as the flora that wall .
And a public garden after my own heart , sport a gem trove of interesting houseplant . Of naturally , my preferred being the prospicient staghorn fern drag down the open fireplace .
Finally , a profuse court with more piddle features lots of nicety . If explore public garden in the summertime , you live long treks through full - sun bed is not always the most pleasurable experience . This , on the other hand , looks like a space I could enjoy all good afternoon .

Thank you for deal this in - depth look atChanticleer Gardenwith us , Carla ! There is always something new and exciting to see at Chanticleer , inside and out .
And hope you all have a fabulous weekend . If you have the clock time , try pinch out to your local garden or Mungo Park and see what ’s uprise !
