Before I had spectre gardens , I thought of genus Funka as boring shade garden flora . Now that I have great deal of tone , I ’m bosom develop Hosta and all the beautiful varieties that are available . Yes , there are still many plain - Jane genus Hosta , like Royal Standard , lancifolia and the common variegated green ones that other nurseryman give away . If you have some of those unpatterned - Jane varieties , I encourage you to look beyond those and commence add some different cultivars to your wraith garden . In a few years , your hosta garden will be stunning .

Although hostas are n’t native to North America , when they flower , they will attract bee to your shade gardens . With the exception of a few variety , I typically cut the flowers off my hostas . I ’ve bring forth mass of other flowers for the bees to jazz on .

Different Types of Hosta
There are literally thousands of cultivars available to plate gardeners . And , I only have around 50 – 60 varieties in my garden . Oh , wait a second , I have around 15 newfangled hostas to plant , so that bumps that routine up . Since I ’m a garden nerd , I really like to keep a list in mygarden journalof the different hosta varieties I have in my garden . If you ’re a collector of hostas , do you keep track of the miscellanea you have ?
Hosta plants are typically maturate for their foliage , although they do bloom in late summer . Some of the flowers are interesting and some are fragrant . The peak make wonderful additions to bouquets and so do the folio for that matter . The leave texture of hostas are amazing ; there are vein leaves , some are puckered , many are smooth , some are wavy , and the list goes on and on .
Hostas also amount in about every shade of green you could imagine . There ’s chartreuse green , blue unripened , very wanton fleeceable ( almost white ) , lime green , vary , etc . etc .
