of late , at my daughter Lucie ’s wedding instead of a traditional wedding cake , we had a dessert table . Lucie and Matt make up one’s mind to have a selection of some favorite desserts , which our friend and caterer Anna Saint John created . Since I had a telephone number of requests for recipes , I am post or linking them here . They are assay and true and very popular amongst guests and mob .
The Cranberry Nut Bars with Rosemary were at a pre - political party along with a Spiced Yule Log – prepared by Zack Wilkes . The pursuit is what was on the dessert table at the wedding party : Lucie wanted my Surprise Key Lime Pie with Dark Chocolate ( smear over graham cracker crust before fill ) and Matt wanted German Chocolate Cake . Another fav of Lucie ’s is my Blondies with Dried Apricots and Beebalm ( I madethe butter this summer while the - plants were blooming ) and foodie friend Lisa Cherkasky ’s Ginger Molasses Krinkles . Anna Saint John made them all and they were wicked undecomposed . For the evergreen plant solstice theme , I made a White Pine Shortbread with tangerine tang and juniper pinon bitter ; I got the original recipe from Wild Muskoka Botanicals blog .

surprisal Key Lime Pie with deep brown

I created this formula for a “ Cabin Fever ” socio-economic class that I often teach in February featuring foods with a tropical nip . This key lime woman of the street coalesce dark deep brown on the freshness and vanilla extract - flavored whipped cream on top – a true savour extravaganza ! formula below .
German Chocolate Cake

Blondies with Dried Apricots and Beebalm
These buttery blondies merge the perfumed / tartness of dried apricot with flowers and leaves fromMonarda didyma , also sleep together as beebalm ( has a citrusy , Earl Grey Camellia sinensis - similar flavor ) . I get together the flowers and foliation at their peak this summertime and made an herbal butter with them and froze it just for the wedding . Susan ’s Surprise Key Lime Pie with Chocolate
For an optional decadent addition to Key Lime Pie , I care to spatter semisweet or semisweet deep brown chips or chop up chocolate over the encrustation when it comes out of the oven ; vex it back in the oven for just 2 to 3 proceedings and then bring it out and overspread the fade chocolate over the impertinence . Then to engild the lily , top this Proto-Indo European off with vanilla - flavored whipped emollient – thus creating a tropical combination of flavors – lime with both vanilla and chocolate ( makes your lip spurt ! ) .
One 9 - column inch Proto-Indo European ; serve 8

2 cup graham cracker crumbs ( about 12 whole crackers)8 tablespoons unsalted butter , melted1/3 cup organic coconut palm sugar , or organic cane or confectioners’sugarGenerous 1/2 cupful of semi - or bittersweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate3 egg , separated14 to 15 - troy ounce can sweetened condensed milk1/2 cup newly - extort unslaked lime juice or cardinal lime hydrate juice2 to 3 teaspoons fresh grated zest from 1 calcium hydroxide ( just the greenish - no bitter white)2 large pinches salt6 drops orange bitters1 cup heavy whipping cream2 teaspoons vanilla sugarScant 1/4 teaspoonful background vanilla extract or 1/2 teaspoonful pure vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 º F.
The graham cracker should be squash into o.k. crumbs in a food central processing unit . Add the butter and the sugar and heart rate until blended . Firmly push the crumb mixture equally into a Proto-Indo European scale and up the sides . Bake in a preheated oven for 10 minutes . If using the chocolate , sprinkle the bits or chopped coffee over the hot encrustation and pose it back in the oven for a few instant . Remove from oven and carefully spread the melted hot chocolate over the bottom of the pie crust with a metal spatula .
