The bog garden at Butchart Gardens
Today , frequent GPOD contributor Cherry Ong is giving us another smell at a less - visited part of Butchart Gardens in British Columbia : the bog garden . ( Her previous post ishere . ) She say :
Tucked away above the Sunken Garden is this beautiful jewel - box garden . I have it off spook garden , and this one is utterly beautiful . I think the plant mine carts total the perfect accent mark for summertime . like my garden look like this !
Mine go-cart planted with brilliant yearly bring in a vivid comic strip of colour to this otherwise green garden .

A modest pool provide visual contrast to the rich carpet of green . The waterlilies growing in the pond are unconvincing to flower much in this much shadiness , but their floating farewell still make a beautiful statement . For water system garden inspiration translate this .
contrast textures are key to make an all - green planting like this work . Here the immense round leave of butterbur ( Petasitesjaponicus , Zones 5–9 ) in the foreground contrast with drift of fine - textured ferns behind them . For ideas of bold - foliage plants to add to your garden , check outthis clause .
A look down the garden to the green lawn beyond . I love the moss - covered duck sculptures ! They keep with the green theme but tot another contrasting bank bill .

Green is n’t just one color ! This tapestry of foliage uses many different plants to create variation and interest . On the leftfield , the big leaves of westerly skunk cabbage ( Lysichitonamericanus , Zones 4–8 ) have a bright sheen to them . In the lower center , perennial impatiens ( Impatiens omeiana , Zones 8–10 ) has a bright stripe of white down the centre of each narrow leaf . Two clumps ofblue - result hosta(possiblyHosta sieboldiana , Zones 4–9 ) contrast vividly with the greens around them . say this for inhalation for design with gullible plants in your garden .
A long view of the whole garden .
