Three gardens from three sisters in three different climates
If you ’re search for garden inspiration , go no further ! On this GPOD , we take a aspect at three sisters ’ gardens .
Hello , my name is Joanna and I ’m from Minnesota . Several years ago , my former Minnesota gardens were aGPOD featureand a garden makeover was aGPOD characteristic last August . Since wintertime is still trying to wrap up in the Upper Midwest and many other places in the States , I opine it would be fun to share some pictures from mine and my sisters ’ gardens – three sister in three gardening zones . We all have different style , but we all love compass in the soil and creating a beautiful blank with flowers .
We ’ll start first with my sister Susan ’s Colorado Garden in Zone 5 :

Asiatic lilies ( Liliumhybrid , Zone 3 – 8) , daylily ( Hemerocallis , Zone 3 – 8) delphinium ( Delphinium elatum , Zone 2 – 7 )
Yellow and orange marigolds ( Tagetes patula , andTagetes erecta , annual ) combine with cool colors for a high-pitched - contrast garden plan .
Next up , my sister Becky ’s South Carolina Garden in Zone 8 :

Swallowtail butterfly on zinnia ( Zinnia elegans , one-year ) . Zinnia flowers are at least as attractive to butterflies as they are to us !
Asian lily , vary whorled loosestrife ( Lysimachia punctata‘Alexander ’ , Zone 4 – 8) , red genus Geum ( Geumsp . ) allow a lustrous mix of red-faced and yellow , behind a daylily prime .
And last , a few guess of my Minnesota Gardens in Zone 4 :

Bee balm ( Monardadidyma , Zone 4 – 10 ) garden phlox ( Phloxpaniculata , Zone 4 – 8) , oriental lily ( Liliumhybrid ) all bring home the bacon fragrance , and resound the same colour through the bed , while brightly yellow from a container of annual realise for a spectacular centerpiece .
Peach dallies and purple bee balm make a combining of colour good enough to eat up , with their coloration shine in a sculpture of recycled glass dish . The blue - green leafage of baptisia ( Baptisia australisZone 3 – 9 ) ready a expectant backcloth to the intact scene .
