Zaluzianskya capensis ‘Midnight Candy’.

Many of the people whose blogs I study are busy ordering their seeds at the moment . Two of the catalog I enjoy are Chilterns and Plant World Seeds . Chilterns have no motion picture but Plant World tempt you with pictures of plants you just have to grow . I have only got as far as Aquilegias and I seem to   have too many already . If you are like me you probably never even get as far as   Z , which means you will overlook the lovely annual with the impossible name;Zaluzianskya capensis . It comes from South Africa and was named after a botanist from Prague shout out Adam Zaluziansky von Zaluszian .   Its common name is ‘ Night Phlox ’ which is just as well as the Romance name does n’t exactly trip off the glossa . The flower are   a very pretty white sensation with   imperial - maroon backs to them . They close up during the twenty-four hour period and open up at gloaming to unblock a wonderful perfume . I can best discover it as a combining of vanilla , marzipan and dearest , but that does n’t do it jurist . They are easy to maturate and I recall the best way to enjoy them is to develop them in pots and in summer keep them on your terrace under the window or in the hothouse . I land a pot of them into the house when we have champion round and everyone is always bowled over by the   delightful aroma .   Everyone thinks they must be some impossibly exotic plant rather than an easy to grow one-year .

I ’ve just remark there is a snail on the rightfulness of the picture , how unusual that I did n’t point out it at the time .

I usually grow a few grass of Night Phlox   to give as gifts to my champion because not many the great unwashed seem to get laid it . That ’s likely   because it come at the end of the seed catalog and has a hard to remember name .   Do try it you wo n’t be disappointed .

Any tips for start them from seed ? Mine have sprouted in only 5 days ( with bottom heat ) , but not certain what to do as far as thinning and plant spacing if they get that far … Last year only a few sprouted and the ended up wilting and dying . Not sure why . observe humidness dome on and on a heat mat under 4 ft fluorescent fixture light . Are the temperamental about transplanting ? Right now there are about 5 seedling per cell , but they are far to tiny to touch yet . Any advisor would be greatly appreciated . Marty

Are “ they ” moody , and any “ advise” … damn tablet !

Oh and I am in geographical zone 5 . How many plants per pot and what size sess do you use ?
